ChichesterPeregrines.comFrom March to July you can stand in the City Chichester around the Cathedral and see Peregrines. A pair have been nesting at Chichester for over 10 years and have now raised 38 chicks.
We do not know the age of the parents as they are not ringed but we think they are about 14 - 16 years old. When the chicks have fledged and they have been taught how to hunt and catch their food they will go their own way. A juvenile might hang around the parents hoping for a free meal but by the next breeding season comes they will be chased off to find their own territory in. We dont know where all the offspring are but we know several live in Sussex, there is one in Canterbury and they have been found as far away as Holland. |
